100K Trees for Humanity is a Black led urban reforestation tree planting organization. We organize cities and communities to plant trees for climate and for public health.
Our Story
We were founded on December 10, 2019, International Human Right Day from a group of Alameda, California residents determined to launch an initiative to plant the planet.
We came together as a response to the September 2019 Global Strike for Climate led by climate activist Greta Thunberg. We called our initiative, 100K Trees for Humanity because it is our goal to organize every major urban city and their communities to plant 100,000 trees and plants CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) to accelerate their city's climate action plans goals to become carbon net negative by 2030.
